About Telchac Puerto

Located on the beautiful gulf coast of the Yucatan, Telchac Puerto is a unique slice of Mexico. A small fishing village where life is slow and easy, but close to a cruise ship port and Merida the capital city of the Yucatan. Within two hours of many Mayan ruins including Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

A FEW BASICS

There are no banks or bank machines in town.

The gas station is at the harbor in the Puerto de Abrigo area of town.

Some stores close for the afternoon.

Restaurants close early here, usually by 6 pm.

FOOD SHOPPING

There are no large grocery stores in town. For the best variety try tienda Fatima, located on the east side of town.

For fresh fruit and vegetables, try the the store front stand just past Libros y Suenos.

For local pork, chicken or beef, Andy's is the answer.

TRANSPORTATION

Getting around town by foot or moto-cab is easy, but a car is recommended.

The bus station is located in Centro. Combis to Motul and Buses to other places in the Yucatan leave all day.
